September/October 2018

Well, hello lovely brides of Kent and welcome to my very first issue of Your Kent Wedding magazine! I’m extremely excited to be bringing you the absolute best of what our amazing county has to offer your wedding. We’ve pulled together some top tips from Kent’s venue styling experts to guide you through creating a wedding day as unique as you, just go along to pages 77-81 for more.

For me the most thrilling part of the planning process is dress shopping! Have a browse through our bridal boutiques special on pages 89-93, where our local experts will talk you through the latest wedding dress trends.

Having been a Brownie and a Girl Guide I’m a huge advocate of being prepared! Our Hot Topic experts advise on the most common wedding day pitfalls and crucially, how you can avoid them, ensuring your day runs as smooth as silk.

But before I sign off for this issue, let me tell you a little about myself. Whilst not ruling out the idea that one day my prince will come along, I’m still very much enjoying my singledom. However, make no mistake! I…am…wedding… obsessed! Like a lot of ladies, please tell me I’m not alone, I may have experienced the odd musing on what my big day would be like. So you can imagine the playground Your Kent Wedding has brought to my door! I hope you feel inspired in planning your dream day as you join me across the pages of this issue.

So, sit back, relax and plan!

Penshurst Place.

Dating from 1341, Penshurst Place was once owned by Henry VIII, who benefitted from its close proximity to Hever Castle where his mistress Anne Boleyn resided. Its original sandstone and Tudor bricked walls are the perfect setting for a dream stately home wedding. Surrounded by 11 acres of formal gardens and cornered by rising turrets, this Medieval home provides ample idyllic locations to capture wonderfully impressive wedding shots.

The Baron’s Hall, which features a 60-foot high chestnut beamed ceiling, bricked flagstone flooring and original decorative pieces, is the crowning jewel of the Penshurst Place banquet rooms. Licensed for ceremonies and receptions, this Medieval masterpiece accommodates up to 200 ceremony guests, and 136 for seated dining.

Upstairs, couples will find the opulent Sunderland Room. Half wood-panelled and half stone-walled, it offers a more Elizabethan aesthetic. Also fully licensed, it can host 136 ceremony guests and 88 for a wedding breakfast.

Outdoor ceremonies are an option in the intimate inner courtyard, a beautiful private garden lined with roses and peonies. This secluded spot also makes a perfect location for a summertime drinks reception.

Penshurst Place is available for weddings throughout the year and work alongside their exclusive caterer, Kudos, to provide a wedding breakfast of the finest of local produce, some having been reared on the estate itself.
