Ponytail fit for Royalty

Celebrity Hairstylist, Jason Collier, who counts Victoria Beckham, Sienna Miller, Eva Longoria, Laura Whitmore and Daisy Lowe as clients, explains how you can get a ponytail fit for Royalty:

“Victoria always looks elegant whatever the occasion, and she looked stunning at the Royal Wedding, sporting a very sleek mid-ponytail that will work for any special occasions this summer, set off perfectly with a sophisticated fascinator.

To get the look, prep freshly-washed and towel-dried hair with a shine-enhancing heat protector, such as SheaMoisture's Argan Oil & Almond Milk Smooth & Tame Blow Out Crème, £10.99, Boots, and blow-dry smooth. Once hair is dry, use straighteners on small sections all over to create beautifully smooth and shiny hair. Create volume at the roots by backcombing the crown and around the sides, remembering to smooth over the top layer with a fine-tooth comb.

To recreate Victoria's ponytail, part the hair directly in the centre and separate out any fringe sections, pinning them out of the way. Then pull the rest of the hair back into a mid-height ponytail, just above the nape of the neck. Fasten with a no-snag hairband, and like Victoria, wrap a small lock of hair around the ponytail to disguise the hairband, pinning into place at the base of the ponytail.

Let down the fringe sections and backcomb gently at the roots, to add a touch of volume around the face. Mist the hair with SheaMoisture's 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Leave-In Conditioner, £10.99, FeelUnique, to enhance shine and give a gorgeously glossy finish, ready for you to add your fascinator or hairpiece.”
