Last minute half term ideas

Still looking for the perfect half term break? Here are some suggestions from www.pitchup.com

Dome

Hide out in the woods
Escape to a heated microlodge hideaway, set within a woodland park and wildlife haven at Nantclimbers Woodland Camping Huts in Shropshire. The whole family can have fun around the campfire and spotting the many birds and beasts that live within the woodland paradise. Little ones can seek out adventure and discovery within the woods, along with the added bonus that when their exploring comes to an end, they have their own snug little den to go back to overlooking the pond.

Make a dome your half-term home
Stay in a futuristic geodesic dome at Greenacres Glamping in Herefordshire. These spacious bubbles sleep 4, and are just a 15 minute drive to the Forest of Dean where attractions include the magical Puzzlewood, high rope trails and more. Nearby stables offer riding lessons, or head to the River Wye to hire a canoe or kayak. The small and friendly site allows barbecues and campfires, and the nearby village of Lea has a shop, pub and curryhouse. Domes have woodburners, separate kitchen cabins and covered outdoor seating.

Catch up on Christmas
Missed out on family fun this Christmas due to the dreaded Covid? Recreate it at half term with a magical stay in a Reindeer Lodge or a Fairy Wagon at Somerset Reindeer Ranch where there are also mermaids, an enchanted forest and even a unicorn to keep the kids entertained. Meanwhile, grownups can take up residence at the weekend tiki bar, cook up a storm in the barbecue hut or simply enjoy picnics by the fire to ward off the evening chill.

An egg-stra special farm stay
Egg-ceptional holidays await at The Hen's Dens at Orchard Organic Farm - a South Devon egg farm. Triangular cabins have heaters, electricity, kitchen corner and private shower and loo. Beds and cooking equipment are among the various optional egg-stras available if you don't want to take your own. Paignton Zoo, the South West Coast Path and several beaches are all close by for fun days out.

Horsey heaven in Wales
If you've got your own camper or tent, Dyfed Shire Horse Farm in South Wales is a great option for anyone with pony-mad kids. Pitch up next to the giant Shire horses, help out with grooming the resident ponies and donkeys and take a ride in a traditional horse-drawn cart. There are also well-equipped outdoor and indoor play areas, and an on-site cafe. Away from the site, there are several beaches within a few miles.
