WIN! A two-night stay in the Lake District, worth £1,500 Finally, the sun is shining! It feels like it’s been a long time coming doesn’t it? As much as I’m very much a winter bunny, I must admit that feeling a warm breeze on my face for a change has cheered me up. My friends and I have decided to compile a bucket list of activities we’d like to enjoy this summer, and plans are well underway for our very own CWM bride’s hen do. If you’re worried about what your best gals might have planned for yours, the best way is to maintain an open line of communication. Make sure you lay down perimeters and make it abundantly clear well in advance if L plates, sashes and the like aren’t your thing. Olivia, Nolwenn and I sat bride Melissa down for a chat first to make sure we didn’t make any faux pas and asked her to provide us with a guest list and options for available dates. No doubt you’ll have been careful about your bridesmaid choices, they love you and know you well, so we’re sure you’re in capable hands. Relax and enjoy the break from planning everything yourself. You’ll find this, the first of our summer issues, brimming with plenty of inspiration and advice as always. We take a look into the world of wedding cakes and asked the county’s best to show us their most showstopping bakes. Plus, if you’re looking to put the finishing touches to your outfit for the big day, look no further than our jewellery and accessories feature, which has everything from the quirky to the classic. The brand offers guests a chance to buy and sell their pre-loved designer clothes and accessories bringing a new breath of life to their wardrobes. Launching in 2009, the brand began by hosting pop-up boutiques in private homes and offices across London, before spending the last five years managing bricks and mortar stores around the country. Bond Street to Your Street has become a trusted name within its market boasting a global following, and stocks designers such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Mulberry and Gucci all with pieces at a fraction of their original price. The new opening also elevates the centre’s current sustainable initiative: Recycle Your Fashion. Here, you’re invited to donate unwanted clothing items to guest services and as a thank you you’ll receive a 10 per cent discount voucher to use at participating stores. The pre-loved clothes are then either re-used or recycled, assisting in the elimination of two million tonnes of clothes from landfills every year across Europe. Find out more at www.mcarthurglen.com A FINE VINTAGE Folc, England’s highest ranking still rose, is set to launch its new 2021 vintage just in time for summer. Having launched last year, Tonbridge-based Folc impressed wine critics and accrued numerous awards both nationally and on an international scale. Folc’ 2021 vintage is a blend of six different grape varieties all sourced from family-run vineyards in Kent, East and West Sussex and Suffolk: pinot noir, pinot meunier, chardonnay, pinot gris, bacchus and kerner. The grapes will then make a short trip to Canterbury where they meet Folc’s talented winemakers with a combined 60 years of winemaking experience. The brand also brings issues such as sustainability and inclusion to the fore. The winery is accredited with the WineGB Sustainability Scheme, reducing the environmental impact of wine packaging and levels of greenhouse gas emission as well as the volume of water used and the carbon footprint per bottle. Each cork used to seal the bottles is plant based and carbon negative, and all of the packaging is biodegradable, recycled and recyclable. The company’s mission is to be fully carbon neutral within the next few years. The word, Folc, is the Old English word for people, tribe and family and this is a wine designed to bring people together, best enjoyed chilled with loved ones! VENUE NEWNESS New to Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve’s wedding offering this year are two gorgeous on-site locations: The Pergola and The Orangery. Well, now you can with AJ Pyrotechnics’ amazing heart fireworks. The company’s Adrian Walters says, “They each spin out of a firing tube at hundreds of miles per hour and it really is luck that they break the right way around! For the one in the picture, I angled it slightly into the wind and crossed my fingers!” The heart is a specially-bought piece, which comes ready prepared to be loaded and fired. Adrian is finding that more and more couples are asking for them and is currently considering tailoring a dedicated section of the displays to them – “We could fill the sky with several of them joined together,” Adrian says. He continues, “I always strive to get the latest designs from abroad wherever possible, which is something that sets us apart within the industry. So, when I say ‘all shows are different and each delivers the wow factor,’ you know why!” Find out more at www.ajpyrotechnics.co.uk MEET AND MINGLE Based in an idyllic spot near Ashford, Frasers Egerton is a wedding venue bursting with charm and elegance. Boasting panoramic views across the surrounding countryside you’re never short of a stunning photographic backdrop and the team, which prides itself on attention to detail, ensures every wedding is both beautiful and relaxing. Since no drinks are allowed to be served in the licensed ceremony area an hour before the “I dos” begin, the venue recognised the need to provide a scenic spot for guests arriving in ample time to sit and relax while they wait for proceedings to start. The new garden area, complete with trendy upcycled bar and five covered pods is just the ticket, offering the perfect place to meet and anticipate the big moment. This beautiful new area is also the ideal place to enjoy pre-dinner drinks and tapas ahead of the wedding breakfast. AN idyllic Frasers of Egerton is the ultimate luxurious eco-friendly wedding venue Set in the heart of rural Kent, Frasers of Egerton is a dream wedding venue with a very special difference. This idyllic 300-acre estate delivers quality in abundance, that’s for sure – from its award-winning restaurant and exquisite menus that use top quality local and seasonal produce, to its beautifully decorated rooms and spectacular scenery on all sides. GREEN WEDDINGS But what really makes Frasers stand out is the strong sustainable ethos and commitment that underpins everything you see and do at this stunning country eco estate. It already produces 80% of its own energy needs through a ground source heat pump and solar panels, with the aim of being entirely carbon neutral within a few years. It’s no wonder it’s building a great reputation for delivering the perfect eco-wedding, without compromising on style. Oozing luxury and charm, this private eco estate is available for exclusive hire for weddings of all sizes, as well as other celebrations and events. It can host large weddings with up to 200 guests in Fraser’s own marquee, which is located on the lawn surrounded by picturesque rose gardens. In addition, smaller boutique weddings are becoming particularly popular. Proprietor Lisa Fraser says, “We find that many of the couples who choose to get married here at Frasers are looking for a wedding venue that’s a little bit different, something that’s more personal and memorable for them and their guests. While many of our weddings have been larger events, there seems to be a trend now for smaller, more intimate weddings, as well as greater interest in sustainability and eco-weddings, and we certainly tick all the boxes there. In addition, as a family-run business, our personal approach and our ability to be flexible mean that each couple has the freedom to create their own bespoke wedding day.” © Laura Debourde WEDDING HAVEN 12

COMPLETELY BESPOKE Every wedding at Frasers is specially tailored to the happy couple’s requirements, but some people prefer a little more guidance so Frasers has put together a new package for boutique weddings hosting 20-50 guests. The wedding itself is held in the romantically decorated Frasers Barn, an oak-framed timber Kentish building. Following the ceremony, the wedding guests move to the fabulous Stag’s Barn passive building for drinks and canapés while the newlyweds have their photographs taken, before everyone returns back to the main timbered barn for the wedding celebrations. Mind you, the wedding photos can take some time in a beautiful setting like this! Surrounded by stunning scenery and an abundance of nature, there are a multitude of photo options to choose from, including meadows of wildflowers, rustic rural landscapes and spectacular sunsets. A wedding at Frasers is a truly Kentish country wedding, with all of the food and drink sourced within 30 miles – including Kentish wines, beers and ciders – and much of the produce being fresh from Frasers’ own farm and kitchen garden. Almost everything that is bought in comes from local suppliers and, if the happy couple wishes, Lisa can provide seasonal flower arrangements and source eco wedding favours. For couples who are keen to have some rustic fun with their décor, they’ve been known to use milk churns as vases, cattle troughs as coolers and farm crates as pop-up bars! ADDED EXTRAS On-site accommodation is available, sleeping up to 20 guests in three beautiful period buildings, with nine of the suites situated on ground floor level. Nearby ancillary accommodation on a neighbouring farm can provide another five double rooms. Located between Maidstone and Ashford, just 20 minutes from junction 8 of the M20, Frasers of Egerton really is the perfect Kent wedding venue! Frasers is kindly offering Your Kent Wedding readers the use of the luxurious bridal suite in The Oast free of charge for their wedding evening with any bookings made during June and July 2022 for weddings held at Frasers in 2022/2023. WILDERNESS Love in the Amy and Ant styled their July wedding day with a boho vibe and a bold natural colour palette to complement the surroundings Images courtesy of Jennifer Jane Photography 30

Ant proposed to Amy in front of the tree that first Christmas morning in their new home. Once the season and their incredible news had been celebrated and decorations were packed away, thoughts turned to wedding venues. They discovered Wilderness Weddings at Preston Court and were instantly attracted by the peacefulness and natural beauty of its outdoor setting. Ant says, “We love how relaxed it made us feel. The ceremony area really sold it for us, with the water in the background. We also loved how there was a clear flow through the venue and could easily picture how our day there would be. During our first visit Amy cried as she loved it so much, so it had to be done!” Keen to know more, we got the lowdown on W-day from groom, Ant... SETTING THE SCENE The location lent itself perfectly to a bohemian woodland wedding vibe and the couple settled on a palette of burnt orange, olive and cream. All of the floral displays distributed throughout the ceremony and reception space were designed to reflect the theme with pampas grass, bunny tails and other dried flowers. The gorgeous terracotta hue was continued through the table plan, which was displayed in photo frames and surrounded by more dried flowers. Each centrepiece featured a glass vase filled with various varieties of dried flowers and the couple made and dyed the table runners and napkins themselves. The tables were also decorated with the wedding favours, which doubled up as place names. Guests were gifted a succulent, growing inside a small terracotta pot, labelled with their name. “My mum grew them all for us, all 100 plus,” Ant tells us. The couple hired additional furniture to make the most of the beautiful outdoor setting. “Everything was boho themed from the wicker seats to the fur rugs. We’d highly recommend The Little Wedding Warehouse, Roxanne was brilliant and so accommodating,” Ant shares. “We love food!” the groom confides. So, naturally the menu was one of the most important considerations for them. “We chose Will Burnett Chef to be our caterer as his food really suited our outdoor summer wedding vibe. Will and his wife, Becca, are young, enthusiastic and genuinely really nice people to work with,” he continues. All assembled were treated to a delicious selection of canapés, one of which was created especially for them due to the couple’s love of Thai food. They later sat down to a three-course wedding breakfast and enjoyed tacos and churros in the evening. The simple and elegant big-day bake continued the decorative theme with pressed-flower embellishments. The bridal party arrived at the venue in yellow and blue vintage VW Campers. The pair also kindly arranged transport for all of their guests who were staying off site, both to and from their accommodation. LOOKING THE PART Amy looked gorgeous in a white Rosa Clara gown with lace back. She accesorised with Freya Rose pearl heels – Martina and diamond earrings, a 10-year anniversary gift from Ant. The groom wore a two piece suit in light stone, with an olive bow tie, brown shoes and brown braces. His buttonhole featured a white flower, while the groomsmen’s were burnt orange to match the bridesmaids’ silk dresses. The other gents wore the same as Ant, apart from the father-of-the-bride and father-of-the-groom who wore three-piece suits with ties rather than bow ties. REAL WEDDING 31
