January/February 2021

As we wave ta-ta and good riddance to 2020, I hope you all had the chance to raise a glass to 2021 with your loved ones, feeling the warmth of hope. While we still need to be careful to keep each other safe, I think there’s reason to look forward to the future. To all of you who’ve seen their wedding plans changing by the second of late, I’d like to virtually shake all of you by the hand. Don’t give in! Here at Your Kent Wedding, we don’t plan to shift in our resolutely optimistic celebration of everything wedding and we love taking you along for the ride. So, let’s support our local wedding industry, so that we can all come out the other side, happy that love won. Come on 2021, you got this!

Let’s start the year with a bang. We’ve got our usual fabulous blend of real weddings (from page 36) and stunning styled shoots (from page 59) that you absolutely won’t want to miss. Plus, eyes on the warmer months already, we’ve consulted the county’s experts on planning al fresco wedding days (page 69). If there’s one thing that never fails to cheer me up, it’s the wealth of stunning dresses that our lovely fashion editor Claire gathers together for her roundups, so be sure to check out the latest from page 91.

Happy new year and keeeeep planning!

Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve

Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve is a multi award-wining wedding venue set in Kent’s largest wild animal park. Once the opulent country estate of Sir Philip Sassoon, it’s surrounded by 600 acres of private parkland. The 20th-century Grade II listed mansion boasts delightful mural-painted rooms by famous English artists such as Rex Whistler, Spencer Roberts and Martin Jordan.

You’re completely spoilt for choice here when it comes to locations for your ceremony and reception, whatever the size of your guest list. The incredible Moroccan Courtyard is the most intimate of spaces for your “I dos,” and can hold 25 loved ones. On the other hand, The Garden Room is the largest space inside and the Iceberg Terrace has the greatest capacity for open-air vows. Both can accommodate 200. For everything in between there’s the Spencer Roberts Room, Long Room and Bear Lodge, which overlooks the spectacled bear habitat and Kent coast.

For the wedding breakfast, you can choose from the four-star hotel (100 guests), Moroccan Courtyard (20 guests), Bear Lodge (70 guests), and The Garden Room (120 guests).

Best of all, if you’re looking for something totally different, being located in a wild animal park means the team can build a VIP safari or include an animal experience in your wedding package. There’s also an incredible array of accommodation available for you and your guests, which provides an experience in itself, from stargazing to luxury lodges set within the animal enclosures.
