May/June 2021

I’m going to be a bridesmaid! As you’ll have gathered, I’m giddy with excitement and couldn’t wait to share my news with you. Our dear Melissa Barker, fellow editor here at CWM, popped the question last month asking me if I’d accept this huge honour. I’m thrilled to be taking this journey with such a dear friend and we’ll be sharing our learnings every step of the way, so don’t miss Melissa’s bridal diary and moodboard over on page 112.

Even bigger news of course is something that affects us all: Boris’ roadmap out of this mess. Here at CWM HQ we were thrilled to see a plan back to wedding normality. It’ll be a slow process, but with everyone pulling together and staying safe it should mean we see our beloved weddings and wedding industry back in full force by the end of June. That in itself is cause for celebration. On that note, let’s take a look at what we’ve got for you this issue as I round up my highlights across these two pages.

Enjoy and keeeep planning!

Hall Place Gardens

Hall Place is a Grade I listed scheduled monument. The house is an impressive property built from Tudor monastic stone and red Jacobean brick, with a panelled Great Hall and a beautiful Great Chamber complete with carved ceiling. The two historical periods that characterise the venue offer varying styles that allow you to experience the best of both.

The award-winning landscaped gardens feature topiary shapes, rose gardens and magnolia walks. Plus, the River Cray runs through the grounds adding a sense of calm and tranquillity, while the wider parkland offers herbaceous borders and wild flowers aplenty.

The magnificent Great Hall leads onto private courtyard gardens adjacent to the Tudor Kitchen. It’s ideally suited for 100 loved ones to join you for the vows and wedding breakfast, with space for 140 at the evening celebrations. The rustic Tudor Kitchen can accommodate 100 ceremony guests and offers access to the North Courtyard where you can adjourn for your drinks reception.

For more intimate ceremonies the Great Chamber on the first floor, a light and airy space overlooking the topiary lawns, can host 50 loved ones. Plus, The Parlour, a smaller panelled room offering a cosy feel has capacity for 40 nearest and dearest to witness the “I dos.”

Retreat to the city at The Marylebone, London

County Wedding Magazines' editor Hannah Faulder enjoys a much-needed city escape!

"As the country prepared for Lockdown Part II, my husband and I managed to sneak in a last-minute escape to the city to enjoy a much-needed retreat at The Marylebone. Nestled in the hotel's super-trendy namesake neighbourhood, between the Georgian Welbeck Street and the part-pedestrianised Marylebone Lane, you're just a short walk from London's most famous Monopoly locations, from Bond Street to Mayfair.
