May/June 2019

Easter is done and dusted, leaving me to struggle with the reality that chocolate for breakfast, lunch and dinner isn’t exactly normal, but hey, we press on! June holds something dear to me, as it’s the month in which my amazing parents tied the knot back in the heady days of the 1970s. So while I get caught up in flowers, dresses and styling, my dear mum and dad, with their 46 of matrimony, remind me of the bigger picture. After the best day of your lives comes something so much more – a marriage – and my goodness that’s worth celebrating.

So with no further ado, let’s talk about our gateway to summer issue. As I’m sure you’ve gathered by this point, food is a subject very dear to my heart… and stomach. We’ve put together a mouth-watering roundup of delectable delicacies. Head over to page 73, but perhaps not on an empty tum!

Being a craft fanatic myself, I’m a huge supporter of the handmade. It’s such a meaningful and personal element to bring to your big day when you have something crafted just for you. From wedding rings to stationery, we introduce you to some of Kent’s talented artisans. Just head over to page 81 to find out more.

As the sun hopefully starts to think about getting its hat on for another year, maybe vows al fresco are something you might be thinking about. If so, head over to page 87 to learn what our experts have to say about planning outdoor “I dos.”

Happy planning, one and all!

Marine Hotel

Recently restyled, Marine Hotel is bright and airy with two beautiful function suites and lounge. It boasts 27 stunning boutique en-suite bedrooms, an orangery, a well-stocked bar and restaurant.

Set in the heart of Tankerton, just a short distance from the market harbor town of Whitstable, the venue is situated overlooking the glorious Kent coast, making the sea views a memorable backdrop for those precious wedding day photos. The pretty outdoor space includes a terrace to the front and courtyard garden to the rear.

Ceremonies can be held in The Galley Suite with capacity for 100, The Ballroom has space for 120 and The Lounge is able to host 70. The latter was recently refurbished in a contemporary style.

The ground floor ballroom offers a private bar and dancefloor, ideal for a live band or DJ. It can accommodate a wedding breakfast for 120 guests and can be easily converted for more informal evening seating.

The Galley Suite is self-contained with private access, a bar, dancefloor and cloakrooms, with space for 60 loved ones.
