May/June 2021

I’m going to be a bridesmaid! As you’ll have gathered, I’m giddy with excitement and couldn’t wait to share my news with you. Our dear Melissa Barker, fellow editor here at CWM, popped the question last month asking me if I’d accept this huge honour. I’m thrilled to be taking this journey with such a dear friend and we’ll be sharing our learnings every step of the way, so don’t miss Melissa’s bridal diary and moodboard over on page 112.

Even bigger news of course is something that affects us all: Boris’ roadmap out of this mess. Here at CWM HQ we were thrilled to see a plan back to wedding normality. It’ll be a slow process, but with everyone pulling together and staying safe it should mean we see our beloved weddings and wedding industry back in full force by the end of June. That in itself is cause for celebration. On that note, let’s take a look at what we’ve got for you this issue as I round up my highlights across these two pages.

Enjoy and keeeep planning!

Havenfield Hall

Hidden away from public roads, Havenfield Hall sits at the end of a long drive that opens up to reveal the building’s grand scale. The interior is bursting with character and charm, and its seven bedrooms each have their own individual style.

As you walk past the front of the house and around to the back where it opens onto the gardens, you’ll find the external games room, complete with full-sized snooker table and bar billiards table. Further on, there’s the Old School House, Cart Shed and bar, which hug a central courtyard, providing the perfect space for live bands, DJs and entertainment.

The Old School House is your indoor ceremony option (80 guests), it features high ceilings and exposed timber beams, large windows and French doors, allowing natural light to flood in. For al fresco vows the Cart Shed and Courtyard (100 guests) are available, this open-faced oak-framed structure opens out onto the paved courtyard providing a lovely option that can be dressed according to your theme. Finally, for the ceremony, The Bandstand also offers a charming outdoor location for 120 loved ones.

Welcome drinks can be served in the courtyard or on the lawned area, making use of the gardens and grounds. The three buildings that surround the central courtyard can all be utilised for the reception.

Retreat to the city at The Marylebone, London

As the country prepared for Lockdown Part II, my husband and I managed to sneak in a last-minute escape to the city to enjoy a much-needed retreat at The Marylebone. Nestled in the hotel's super-trendy namesake neighbourhood, between the Georgian Welbeck Street and the part-pedestrianised Marylebone Lane, you're just a short walk from London's most famous Monopoly locations, from Bond Street to Mayfair.
