May/June 2022

Finally, the sun is shining! It feels like it’s been a long time coming doesn’t it? As much as I’m very much a winter bunny, I must admit that feeling a warm breeze on my face for a change has cheered me up. My friends and I have decided to compile a bucket list of activities we’d like to enjoy this summer, and plans are well underway for our very own CWM bride’s hen do. If you’re worried about what your best gals might have planned for yours, the best way is to maintain an open line of communication. Make sure you lay down perimeters and make it abundantly clear well in advance if L plates, sashes and the like aren’t your thing. Olivia, Nolwenn and I sat bride Melissa down for a chat first to make sure we didn’t make any faux pas and asked her to provide us with a guest list and options for available dates. No doubt you’ll have been careful about your bridesmaid choices, they love you and know you well, so we’re sure you’re in capable hands. Relax and enjoy the break from planning everything yourself.

You’ll find this, the first of our summer issues, brimming with plenty of inspiration and advice as always. We take a look into the world of wedding cakes and asked the county’s best to show us their most showstopping bakes. Plus, if you’re looking to put the finishing touches to your outfit for the big day, look no further than our jewellery and accessories feature, which has everything from the quirky to the classic.

Enjoy and keeeep planning!

Knowle Country House

As you sweep along the venue’s driveway, it’s easy to be captivated by the charm and elegance of this fine Victorian mansion, set in one of the most beautiful and historically interesting spots in Kent. Having recently undergone extensive renovation work, the venue now boasts a gorgeous conservatory with a bar, and the lovely gazebo with surrounding patio used for outdoor ceremonies has been given a new lease of life. The wonderful location never fails to impress visitors. Set in 14 acres of gardens and orchards, with a wildlife area, the grounds burst with colour whatever the season and offer views of the distant River Thames.

Located less than an hour’s drive from London with excellent rail links, The Knowle can accommodate weddings with up to 90 daytime guests for the ceremony and wedding breakfast, with space for an additional 80 in the evening.

Receptions can be celebrated in the main restaurant with 90 loved ones or for more intimate gatherings, in the Octagonal Room (The Charles Dickens Room) for 10 nearest and dearest. Alternatively, the Garden Room can accommodate 40 guests and leads into the Victorian conservatory, an extended lounge area for everyone to enjoy. Irrespective of the numbers there’ll only be one wedding on any day, offering total privacy and sole use of the premises, with no hiring or hidden charges.

Located in the centre of the House is the venue’s new getting-ready room, perfect for all your preparations. A large room bathed in natural light, it features full-length mirrors, plush furnishings, Bluetooth stereo and a privacy screen.

WeSnapthat is a free event photo sharing app, which is private and secure and means you won't miss out on all of the pictures friends and family are taking on your wedding day. Founder, Tarandip Rehall, says, 'After attending several weddings, I noticed that professional wedding photographers took over the event and guests felt a little left out. I could see that guests were taking loads of photos and videos, and I was wondering were all those beautiful moments that were captured ever be seen by the bride and groom or other guests. Hence WeSnapThat was created to help remove the hassle of chasing and missing out of photos and videos, plus the app get attendees to be more engaged with your event and make it more joyful as they feel part of your special day.'
