Lucky number 13

Hannah and James wed on 29th September, 2018, on a day styled in blush, navy, burgundy and gold.

Hannah and James met aged 13 on Friday, 13th February, at a school disco. With James at the local boys' school and Hannah a student at the girls', they shared a lot of mutual friends and began spending more and more time in each other's company. Over time, they became best friends, which formed the strong foundation for their relationship.

James proposed while the pair were holidaying in Dubai, 13 years after they met. They were enjoying pre-dinner drinks in the hotel bar on their second night when James excused himself to visit the bathroom. While he was gone, a member of staff presented Hannah with a red rose and an envelope. Inside was a letter from James with instructions to go to the rooftop, where he would be waiting. She arrived to a superromantic scene, with fairylights and James on one knee with a bottle of Veuve Clicquot and a small heart-shaped ring box.

Lucky number 13: Image 1 The first thing that attracted us to Sprivers Mansion was the beautiful wisteria-fronted house that greets you as you pull into the gravel driveway. We also loved the fact that they offer access from Thursday to Sunday, taking a lot of the pressure away from setup and allowing us to make the most of the experience.

I wore a customised strapless Morilee ball gown. I worked with a seamstress, who did an amazing job of adding off-the-shoulder beaded sleeves. They changed the entire look of the dress, making it exactly how I'd imagined. Plus, they were detachable, giving me the freedom to throw some shapes on the dancefloor once the evening came!

James and the groomsmen were dressed in matching navy suits and grey waistcoats with crisp white shirts. They accessorised with knitted burgundy ties and blush-hued buttonholes, except the groom, who wore a bow tie with a burgundy flower.

Our favours were mini bottles of Chambord with personalised tags. They matched our palette perfectly and were a great touch to add to the table settings.

I made the table plan, which was simply displayed in a flower-covered frame and rested on a matching gold easel.

Lucky number 13: Image 5 We also had a huge halo of eucalyptus and small candles hanging from the centre of the marquee.

The first time I became tearful on the day was when my flowers arrived! They were just beautiful.

We had an amazing flower wall set up next to the orchard. It was a great backdrop for photos and because we were so lucky with the weather, it got used a lot. We also had a balloon arch at the marquee entrance. It was a great way to jazz up the doorway!

Lucky number 13: Image 7 The best man and groomsmen performed an original song influenced by David Brent's Free Love Freeway. It was an amazing surprise, and to top it off a friend recorded it and sent it to Ricky Gervais via Twitter. He liked it, and it now has more than 33,000 views!

For me, the favourite element of our venue decoration was our centrepieces. A combination of various flowers, including burgundy and blush roses, dahlias and eucalyptus, set in large rose gold lanterns. They were placed on to rustic wooden slices and surrounded by tea lights.

We chose a four-tier cake with one fake tier for extra height. My favourite Victoria sponge was accompanied by layers of raspberry flavour and red velvet.

Lucky number 13: Image 9 Funky soul band Project F played in the evening. We're their biggest fans! They're a six-piece band from Margate and had played at our engagement party as well. The dance floor wasn't empty for a single moment.

Guests' names were laser cut from slices of wood, fitting in well with the rustic seasonal theme.

Our guests had a choice of two options for their meal, which was provided by Kitchen of Kent. The food was delicious, and many said it was the best wedding food they'd tasted!

Lucky number 13: Image 11 We were both a little anxious during the build up to the ceremony. I was thinking about all of the suppliers, while James kept going over the speech in his head. We were both worried about the weather! But the moment I walked down the aisle and saw James waiting for me, every little worry I'd had just slipped away.
