A new study by Travelodge has revealed that Kent workers who travel regularly for work have much happier relationships than those who don’t. The survey revealed as many as 40 per cent of Kent workers who work away from home regularly, would describe their relationship as “extremely happy,” compared to just 28 per cent of workers who never go away on business.

For those who travel for work on a monthly basis, as many as 82 per cent attributed their happy marriage to having time apart from each-other. An astonishing 40 per cent of Kent workers who regularly travel for business said it was nice to have a break from household chores. Whilst one in five reported that they relish a good nights’ sleep in a hotel. Of those that work away regularly, 21 per cent of Kent workers reported it was a ‘win win’ situation as their partner loved having the house to themselves.

Nearly nine in ten Kent workers said having some time apart from their partner made them realise how much they appreciated them. 77 per cent of Kent workers claimed that working away made their relationship more passionate.

Despite nearly a third of Kent workers claiming to miss each-other, 38 per cent love filling in their partner on their latest business conquest, and the latest work gossip when they return home.

Over a quarter of Kent workers will FaceTime their partner when away on business every night from their hotel room. Whilst a staggering 81 per cent of Kent workers will buy their partner a gift from wherever they’ve been staying.

The study, by Travelodge, who welcomes 19 million customers annually across its 570 UK hotels, which includes 14 properties across Kent also found workers reporting other benefits to working away, with 37 per cent of those polled saying they enjoy the extra ‘me-time’ it brings.

Shakila Ahmed at Travelodge said: “Our research highlights that travel has become a big part of modern business. It’s good to see that Kent workers are also benefiting from taking regular business trips as it provides a break from the hectic hustle and bustle of family life and provides time to relax and have some much needed me time.”
