Celebrating 21 years in business Debbie Green of Chives the Caterer was already feeling suitably proud of everything the business had achieved when the opportunity arose to cater for the RBLI’s centenary lunch. Little did she know this would turn out to be the most important event of her career. Debbie explains, “The initial meeting was just like any other: A three-course lunch for 100 people, very straightforward. Then we got the call to inform us that the guest of honour would be HM the Queen!”
Three weeks of sleepless nights followed for Debbie as the pressure was on to ensure both food and service were perfect. She told us, “The biggest logistical question was who would serve the Queen. It was eventually decided that it should be me and clearing the first plate before carrying the main course to Her Majesty was the most nerve-wracking thing I’ve ever done!”
