Involving your four-legged friend on your wedding day? Are they taking...
With the latest guidelines pointing towards more intimate and socially-disctanced wedding receptions, the buzzwords on everyone's lips are "outdoor weddings." Even before the outbreak, we were seeing a definite trend in this direction, and now this seems like a style of wedding that presents a way forward into safe celebrations. We asked Kent-based celebrant Geraldine Webb of Making Memories to tell us more...
"How romantic – an outdoor wedding in the wonderful Garden of Kent. The trend for outdoor weddings is certainly growing. Kent is known for its green rolling hills, fertile soils and an abundance of fruit growing and hop gardens, and there are so many venues a couple can marry in.
"Have you heard of a wilderness wedding? Your celebrant-led wedding could take place by a lake in a woodland, full of wild birds, flowers and butterflies. Sounds truly magical doesn't it? Alternatively, if you're thinking of having your ceremony in a barn, there are many in Kent to choose from, everything from a converted granary to a hop barn. Think beautiful rural barns with vaulted wood-beamed interiors and glorious gardens.
"Further alternatives include a marquee in your garden, a gazebo or a walled garden on a country estate. Or what about a bandstand - how lovely to have a small band playing in the background.
"Remember, if a celebrant is performing the wedding ceremony, your vows don't have to take place on licensed grounds if you get the legalities completed in advance.
"This is just a glimpse of what Kent can offer in terms of ourtdoor wedding locations. But have an umbrella handy - just in case!"
