Winter wedding beauty tutorials – Part three: Snow queen

Welcome to the third and final part of our winter beauty tutorials where we showcase a variety of different beauty trends to help you look utterly fabulous this winter. 

Look 3: Snow Queen

This big half-up-half-down look is loosely inspired by Disney’s Frozen – combining the height of Elsa’s style with more natural cascading curls and loose-undone braids instead of Elsa’s single plait. And the English rose make-up is inspired by Snow White.

This strapless dress is very romantic but still sexy with the sweetheart neck – definitely a cross between the sweet Snow White and the feisty Elsa, with the added drama of the long train.

Practically, the dress can be climbed into after the hair and make-up is finished with no worry of any red lippy marking it. The strapless dress allows the hair to cascade over bare shoulders, and for chilly weather a faux fur shoulder shrug would look stunning. 

Pair with pearl studs to complete the overall look.

HAIR step-by-step:

1. Fresh washed and dried hair. 
2. Spray through Goldwell Naturally Full Bodifying Spray. 
3. Curl hair with GHDs leaving out front and crown, applying Magic Finish Hairspray to each section. 
4. Backcomb through crown and curl back and away from face. Spray each section with Goldwell Big Finish Hairspray. 
5. Attach hair padding at crown and secure with pins, and bring an inch of hair over padding making sure it is covered. 
6. Bring the rest of the front over, attaching with fine pins and setting with Big Finish Hairspray. 
7. Braid three very loose plaits with the length, creating an undone look by pulling them apart and setting with spray. 
8. Spray over with Goldwell Diamond Gloss Hairspray 

Suzanne says, “...for added effect interweave delicate fresh white flowers using the stems, I used gypsophila, and secured with fine pins.”

MAKE-UP step-by-step:

1. Ensure the face is clean and moisturised with a non-greasy light product.
2. Prime the skin and allow to soak in to the skin.
3. Apply the correct blend of Airbase Airbrushing foundation with a medium to full coverage. 
4. Prime the eyes – I like P.Louise primer. And then apply natural matte shadow, before adding black liner to the inside lower lid and beneath the upper lid.
5. Apply a layer of mascara, before applying the strip lashes close to the root of the natural lashes. Remember to add a couple of coats to the lower lashes.
6. After lashes are dry, apply the black liner – either liquid or kohl (I like Benefit, Mac and Bobbi Brown), across the upper lid, do not go to the inside corner.
7. Apply a pinky shade of blush to suit skin tone from the apple of the cheeks up the cheekbones and lightly over the areas that would naturally be touched by sunlight.
8. Define eyebrows but not with an outline.
9. Use a deep pink-red lip liner to outline the shape and fill in with a low gloss, but not matte lipstick to finish the look.

Kelli says, “...When applying lashes, ensure you push them down over the natural lashes closing in the gap and avoiding showing skin, you can correct with liner after application if needed.”
