We reveal the trends for bridal jewellery this year

With weddings finally back on again from June, guests are ready to dust off their hats and fascinators! Whilst the wedding dress (and occasion wear) is the number one thought when bridal shopping, here's a sparkly reminder how big-day jewellery for everyone in the bridal party also makes a statement. We caught up with a few of our favourite jewellery brands including Clio Saskia, Leo With Love, and Sif Jakobs Jewellery to chat about what's trending this year.

Clio Thomas, designer and founder of Clio Saskia,
is seeing a return to nature with regards to jewellery choices. "Nature is soothing and comforting, bringing a stillness and calmness that has been needed this past year. We have reconnected with ourselves, and nature, which has allowed us a renewed sense of respect for the planet and the surroundings we live in. We have seen that long-lasting relationships evolve to find ways of surviving and grow to become stronger with time."

Clio continues, "Jewellery is a celebration of our place in the world. Simple, natural forms with an elegant design will be paired with natural gemstones, completely unique in their story. Central diamonds haloed by coloured stones are popular, alongside a coloured central stone like a blue or yellow sapphire or ruby, to mimic the vivid and wild colours of the natural world."

She continues, "Finally, traceability and providence are becoming essential - individuals want to celebrate their love for each other with a clear conscience by choosing responsibly sourced gemstones. Recycled and Fairtrade gold are becoming increasingly popular with many considering their environmental impact carefully."

Leora Moreno, designer and founder of Leo With Love, describes how personalisation is key. "We have missed out on the finer, frivolous details of dressing in the past year, so getting married is going to allow us to look fabulous again. For the bride who knows there's no detail too small and that gemstones can hold the same symbolism as flowers, matching the gemstones in their jewellery to their intentions as they start a new chapter in life is ever-important."

Leora continues, "Get your bridal party involved in the fun, too! From letter earrings that spell out 'bridesmaid' to nameplate necklaces and engraved inscriptions noting the wedding date, there's so much choice."

Leora is putting her money on bold geometric shapes. "Large earrings for sleeveless dresses and statement necklaces and bracelets will steal the show!"

Sif Jakobs reveals trends that tell a story

Sif Jakobs, designer and founder of Sif Jakobs Jewellery explains how jewellery, like the big day itself, should all be about telling your story. “Getting married is an incredibly personal experience, even with a large number of guests watching, so having a piece of jewellery which holds a secret only you and your significant other know, can make it even more special. Engraving your necklace with a personal message, your partner’s initials, or maybe even the date you met, would be a beautiful way to celebrate and add some sparkle to your bridal look!”

For the romantics, Sif recommends using jewellery to capture old traditions. ”If all else fails, keep it classic and add something blue. The color blue stands for love, purity and fidelity—three key qualities for a solid marriage. Which is what every bride wishes for.”
