March/April 2024

At the time of writing this my family and I are counting down to my sister’s wedding on February the 24th -exciting times! I’m so happy for her, so much so that I didn’t even mind that she’s chosen the same wedding venue as me, in fact, it’s nearly six years to the day that my husband and I tied the knot there so we can’t wait to go back and reminisce.

Obviously this leads to comparisons, ours had a blush and rose gold theme (at the time quite on-trend), their scheme is white and sage green (so current right now too!). We kept some traditions and scrapped others, as they have done, we had a jukebox for the evening entertainment and they’ve picked a band. Despite all of this, the one thing that is the same is that both couples were happy before and I’m confident will always be happy after too.

I’ve been given the task of saying some words – which I’ve not written yet! – and realise what a difficult task this is, even given my profession! Do I make it factual or funny, do I talk or say a poem, how long is too long? The pressure is on – wish me luck!

This issue is packed to the brim with lots of lovely local inspiration for those tying the knot in Kent, from venues and catering, to spotlights on local businesses and couples, we’re championing all-things county-based as always. Happy reading,

Danielle x

Bradbourne House

Surrounded by 20 acres of beautiful parkland, Bradbourne House is a magnificent Queen Anne country house, dating back to 1590. Boasting a tranquil lake, waterfall and thriving grounds, the gardens offers far reaching views over the grounds − the perfect setting for photography.

Full of history, this Tudor Grade I listed building holds its original character with elegant interiors. A blend of tranquillity and classic elegance, from the striking teal and gold walls in the Great Hall to the spectacular ornate ceiling in the Committee Room.

For vows, the grand Great Hall can seat 100 guests, and has doors that open onto the lawn, giving guests a beautiful view of the grounds. After the wedding breakfast, this room transforms into the evening reception area where you can party the night away with up to 200 loved ones.

With stunning bay windows and an ornate golden ceiling adorned with chandeliers, the elegant Drawing Room is ideal for a more intimate wedding for up to 40 guests. With a magnificent view of the parkland and lake, this space can also be used for your drinks and canapé reception, wedding breakfast and evening food reception − it’s also the perfect location for the cutting of your cake.

The library, a beautiful oak-panelled room with round feature windows, is ideal for serving the evening buffet, or holding receptions for a smaller gethering of up to 75 guests.

Weather permitting, couples have the choice of two outside ceremony settings; the Great Hall steps or the Hatton Fruit Garden are truly unforgettable settings for up to 100 guests. The Hatton Fruit Garden provides a charming Kentish countryside ceremony space with a ‘secret garden’ feel, offering far-reaching views over orchards and the grounds of the house.

When tying the knot here, couples benefit from a wedding menu taster session and also a dressing area to utilise.
