Boho beach bride shoot in Broadstairs, Kent
Living in Kent, make-up artist Becky Downton immediately thought of the famous Botany Bay as a fitting location for a styled shoot. It served as a perfect backdrop for the mood she and the team set out to create. Photographer Masha Unwerth tells us more about the day and the team's inspiration...

"Back in early January I was asked by make-up artist, Becky Downton to photograph a boho inspired beach wedding shoot with Nadia Webber (hair stylist), Liz Hammocks (florist) and Alison Harper (BB Bridal and Alterations)."

"Botany Bay was a perfect backdrop for the mood that thrives by the coast during winter and undoubtedly leaves you with an array of beautiful emotions and ultimately a very grand reward. With this in mind, a group of talented women gathered together to exercise the creative juices and achieve something rather great. As a photographer I'm always keen to create new inspiring images, I love the coastal tone and sea vibes, and despite the day being cold, the team pushed through successfully."

Make-up artist Becky told us: "My inspiration behind the make-up on Leona was to keep the overall look pretty dark and sultry for this bohemian chic inspired look. I opted for a cool toned matte smoky eye look whilst keeping the lips natural by using a soft grape sheer lipstick. The main focus for me was to be kept on the eyes for the edgy, editorial bridal look."

Nadia Webber, the team's hair stylist, created ripple-effect waves to reflect the mood of the beach and location as well as keeping natural-look.

Masha continues, "Leona, the model bride, wore an asymmetrically draped bodice ball gown from the Blu by Mori Lee collection lent by BB Bridal, and styled it with a faux leather jacket. Aidan, the model groom wore black jeans, a white shirt and black jacket for a formal yet modern look with a touch of casual. This real couple were the perfect fit for the shoot – they radiate such happiness and love for each other."

"The gorgeous bouquet included Anastasia bloom, French ruscus, eucalyptus, alstroemeria, kochia, and chamelaucium. Protea were also brought in for texture and bohemian chic. All were designed by Liz Hammocks in a style evoking a timeless boho feel. I couldn't be more grateful to have pulled off my very first beach boho inspired wedding shoot, and to share the photo gallery with you all!"
