"To all you lovely couples out there who have had to postpone or cancel your weddings, my heart goes out to you," says Kent wedding photographer, Penny Young. There’s a lot of uncertainty at the moment as to whether you should cancel or postpone your wedding until later this year or move it to next. Unfortunately, there's is no easy answer for the time being, and photographers and other wedding suppliers are finding themselves in that limbo with you.

Penny has a few tips to share with you, in the event you do decide to postpone:

  • Try your hardest to work with your venue and all of your suppliers to find a new date that works for everyone. That way you don’t compromise on your original plans. Be flexible and consider days of the week that may have more availability like Thursday or Fridays.
  •  Make a list from both sides of those people who you absolutely couldn’t get married without and this will help you consider new dates. If you’re thinking of postponing to later this year, consider any vulnerable people who still may not be able to attend.
  • Acknowledge and process your disappointment, it’s real and completely understandable.
  • Celebrate your original date by planning a romantic evening.
  • Start making future plans and use the additional time to perfect the finishing touches.
  • Remember, it's still possible to have the celebration of your dreams.
