Five minutes with Angela Williams of RKW Hair

Angela Williams of RKW Hair in Kent

Angela has worked in hairdressing for 22 years. She left school and worked her way up in the filed until she was part of the education team and eventually succeeded in managing her own team of accessors and instructors. She's now mummy to two little girls, and has been obsessed with all things wedding ever since her own. That's when she found herself launching RKW Hair. She says, "Weddings are still my passion and what I enjoy the most."

What's your signature bridal look?

That's a tough one! I'd say anything soft, informal and relaxed sums up the majority of my work. The bridal look that has had the most compliments is this gorgeous half up/half down look with romantic waves and a beautiful plait to give some detail to the look.

If you could impart just one piece of advice to brides everywhere, what would it be?

Make sure you gel with your wedding suppliers, it's so important, particularly with your wedding hair stylist. They're a part of your special morning and present in the company of your family and friends, so it's super important that you're able to imagine them as part of your big day. Don't be afraid to pick up the phone and have a good old fashioned chat, or arrange an initial consultation.

Tell us your top trend tips for 2021...

I think brides are still going to go away from structured, smooth styles and instead opt for soft, loose buns and chignons, with the most important thing being lots of texture. Down-styles are still just as popular, with romantic waves and curls.

What product can't you live without in your kit?

I often like to layer the hair with several different products, but the new one on my radar this year has been Goldwell StyleSign Twist Around. It's been amazing for giving that extra hold boost after preparing the hair for curls to be worn down, but equally gives some real grip to the hair, which is super-good for pinning an securing the hair when wearing it up.
