Lindsay says:
Winter weddings are more than likely going to be held indoors for most of the day, so you don't need to worry about wearing more robust shoes to keep you warm. Plus, wearing anything too heavy on your feet can take away the elegance from a sophisticated and feminine outfit. You may however like to opt for closed toe or classic court shoes you can wear with tights just to keep your toes protected from the frost.

If you need a sturdier heel for icier weather conditions opt for a block heel instead of a stiletto. In addition, a pointier toe can be super elongating for your legs in any heel height and will give a chicer finish to your look. If you have wide feet and are worried about the comfort levels of a pointier toe, many brands offer a wider fit so your feet will still be prepared for dancing into the night.

If you would like to opt for an edgier look and go for boots with your outfit, try a stretched sock boot that fits nice and close to your ankle for a sleeker and more streamlined look.

When it comes to deciding what colour shoes to wear with your outfit, you can't go wrong with a nude shoe. Opt for a pinky nude if your outfit is a cooler colour (has a blue undertone) or a camel nude if your outfit is a warmer colour (yellow undertone). If you are not sure on whether you best suit warm or cool colours a professional stylist can guide you to your best colours with a Colour Analysis Consultation.

If your outfit is blue: Navy is the most universally flattering colour and compliments any colour in the colour wheel so you can go for something simple and neutral or something bright and bold such as red or Pink. Blue also sits perfectly with any metallic colour so you can go for gold or keep it soft in silver. Deep hues in velvet such as burgundy or emerald green can give a sumptuous sophisticated and elegant edge to your outfit. One of my favourite colour combinations is black and navy, it's a real archaic rule to avoid this pairing but it can be one of the chicest colour combinations when it's kept nice and simple.

If your outfit is Pink: For a soft and feminine and romantic look, keep it light in silver, rose gold or nude. For a stronger contrast try black or navy or even white. Burgundy is also a perfect pairing with pink and moves you away from the classic neutrals.

Times have changed and it has become more acceptable to wear black to weddings, the real no no is still not to wear white or ivory. There are however a few guidelines you can follow to make sure you get a black outfit just right.

The key with black is to keep it elegant and sophisticated so avoid anything too revealing or clingy. Glitzy accessories or metallic shoes can add glamour and elevate the simplest of black dresses and are perfect for this time of year as we come into the festive season.

For more of a contrast to a black outfit opt for bold and bright shoes and accessories such as red, hot pink or cobalt blue for a contemporary look.

If you are worried a solid black outfit is too harsh for the occasion, embroidered flowers on a black base can look just as feminine as a lighter and softer colour.
