One of the most important aspects of your summer wedding is choosing the right venue. Like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's big day, it can be near your family's 'castle' or one that everyone travels to because the building and its location are just so beautiful.
If you're planning a traditional 'royal' ceremony and want to get married in a church, then your ideal venue needs one nearby. We're so lucky at Hayne House; we're surrounded by lots of wonderful churches, but we particularly love recommending the very handsome Grade II listed Norman church in our village: St. Peter and St. Paul, Saltwood, Kent. We can hear the bells ringing as our couple's leave, so we know when to start popping their bubbles, ready for drinks on the lawn.
Then the building has to comfortably hold your guest numbers – unlike the Royal Wedding (with 600 invites posted), typically an average celebration is around 75 day guests; but your building should be able to hold more, just in case your numbers go up!
But most importantly, for the perfect summer celebration, your venue needs to tick the following boxes:
• Be private and have exclusive-use as you won't want any gatecrashers!
• Must allow you to stamp your personality on it, for example, decorate with lashing of real owners
• The catering menus should be inspiring and be able to accommodate your bespoke requests
• There must be lovely gardens, for your all-important photographs
• Ideally there is some on-site accommodation so that you don't have to wait for a taxi at the end of the night – not very royal!
