Mereworth Wines Take To The World Stage

Mereworth Wines range and christmas promotion

Kent's Mereworth Wines has had a sparkling end to the year winning a Silver award with its first vintage White From Black in the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships 2020, the most respected and rigorous international sparkling wine competition.

Having planted its vineyards in Wateringbury in 2016, Mereworth Wines released its first vintage of English Sparkling Wine at the unlikely time of the country’s first lockdown in April of this year. In a way, this proved a blessing, with people from the local, surrounding towns being the first to try their wine, which has only travelled a mile over the course of its production, from vineyard to winery. The 2018 White From Black proved extremely popular with a loyal local fan-base benefitting from the delivery and Click & Collect service at the winery.

Founder, Will Boscawen, thanks the local community, saying “We can not express how grateful we are for all the love and encouragement we have received, which has allowed us to dream big and achieve such accolades.” This first vintage received recognition in the Wine GB Awards back in August, and has now taken this one step further, with its success in the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships 2020. This places Mereworth Wines not only in the mix with the best sparkling wine producers in this country, but sitting proudly alongside the likes of Bollinger and Laurent Perrier with the best sparkling wines in the world.

As well as a significant achievement for Mereworth Wines, Will is excited by the prestige and possibility this award brings to English Wine producers as a whole. English sparkling wines came in 3rd on the national leaderboard, biting at the heels of the Italian and French. “It’s exciting to see the profile of English Sparkling Wine being deservedly elevated, and we are proud to be a part of making this happen. It is a long journey, but we want to continue to raise the bar and bring wine lovers the best sparkling wines in the world, made right here in the Garden Of England.”

You can try this award-winning wine for yourself at a discounted price, as Mereworth Wines are currently offering a 6th bottle free with every 5 bottles purchased, until the end of December. To take up this case offer, and to join Mereworth Wines on their journey, head to www.mereworth.co.uk
