Put some sparkle into your vegan lifestyle

Mereworth Wines English Sparkling wine

Kent's Mereworth Wines has revealed that its award-winning English Sparkling Wine is not only a delicious tipple, but also suitable for anyone following a vegan diet. So, you and all of your wedding guests can enjoy a wedding toast worry-free with these fab wines.

Many of us might assume that wine is made wholly from grapes and their juice, but there can be other additions used in the production of wine. Winemakers often use animal-derived products, such as gelatine or isinglass, as fining agents to clarify the wine. However, you will not find any such products used at Mereworth Wines. By ensuring gentle pressing and careful handling during the winemaking process, fining and filtration are kept to a minimum, and are often not required at all depending on the vintage. Where fining agents are used, Mereworth Wines opt for vegan alternatives, such as vegetable pea protein.

Mereworth Wines’ 2018 ‘White From Black’ was its first vintage of English Sparkling Wine, made from grapes grown in its vineyard in Wateringbury. Released in April 2020, this vintage has already received awards in the Wine GB awards and the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships.
