Start planning early and try not to rush. Having said that, if something feels right then be brave and take the plunge. If you plan on seeing five venues, but fall in love with the first one there's nothing wrong with being impulsive and making a choice on the spot. Leave yourself plenty of time, as lots of great venues and suppliers get booked up early. We have just started taking bookings for 2025. Look for suppliers that want to work with you, are flexible and give good guidance.

Seasoned, a wedding and events specialist caterer, has landed a two-year deal to provide catering services at the stunning Penshurst Place and Gardens. The 14th-century manor house, once the property of King Henry VIII, features Tudor banqueting rooms and the Seasoned team are planning a range of bespoke menus that couple and their guests can enjoy. Colin Sayers, managing partner at Seasoned, says, "When you have a location as extraordinary as this, the food has to be fantastic, it needs to replicate its surroundings – a special menu for a special venue."

In April 2021 the team at Victoria Grace Bridal were finally allowed to open the doors to their new home in Burgate Canterbury. After taking the plunge to relocate from Faversham they never expected to be plunged into another lockdown before they had the chance to open. The boutique finally opened on the 12th April 2021 and the team have never looked back. Hayley Freeman-Revell says, "The welcome from our neighbours, the support from customers old and new and encouragement from our friends and family has been amazing and we are growing from strength to strength." The introduction of fantastic designers Essense of Australia and Stella York has been the icing on the cake.

Are your parents contributing to your wedding day?
New research from Wealthify has found that just over a third (35.7%) of parents in the UK plan to contribute financially to their children's weddings.
More than 40% of parents in the UK plan to contribute between £1,000 and £5,000 with an additional quarter planning to contribute between £5,000 to £15,000 on their children's big days. A further 1 in 10 plan to fork out a substantial £15,000 to £30,000.
In a post-pandemic world, where many celebrations were cancelled or postponed, Brits are celebrating their nuptials in a big way. Data shows that we are spending more than ever, and London parents are the most generous on average, willing to cough up £14,757.14 to see their children tie the knot.

Outdoor civil weddings and civil partnerships made permanent
One positive that came from Covid affecting the wedding industry, and trust us there are not many, was that it highlighted how archaic our weddings laws are in the UK and how badly they needed modernising to reflect couples' desires.Temporary legislation allowing outdoor civil weddings and partnerships to take place outside of a permanent structure such as a pagoda, has been in place since last summer. At the time it allowed Covid-secure weddings to go ahead, however, the move was so widely received that from April it will be a permanent change.
