Local supplier spotlight: Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve

The exterior of Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve's main building

An enchanting setting draped in history, Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve is Kent’s largest wildlife reserve, set within 600 acres of magnificent private parkland and home to 900 endangered animals. With picture-perfect views across the English Channel and Romney Marsh, its heart, the Grade II* listed Port Lympne Mansion, stands proudly amid 14 acres of lovingly landscaped gardens. Considered one of England’s most exquisite country houses, it has welcomed royalty, aristocracy, renowned politicians and celebrated playwrights for over a century.

A setting made for “I do”
Hidden within the ancient, whispering walled garden, the pergola offers an irresistibly romantic haven in which to exchange vows, surrounded by up to 110 of your nearest and dearest. For a more intimate al fresco moment, the exclusive-use Moroccan Courtyard awaits within the mansion itself. With its marble columns, antique brass lanterns, gentle fountains, and walls adorned with dreamy floral artistry, it provides a magical backdrop for ceremonies with up to 25 loved ones.

Prefer to say “I do” indoors? The mansion’s exquisite mural-painted rooms, crafted by celebrated English artists, offer a wonderfully atmospheric setting. The Spencer Roberts Room seats 50 for a ceremony or 30 for a wedding breakfast, while the Long Room welcomes up to 100 guests for vows (50 for the wedding breakfast) and offers sweeping views across the reserve.

As evening falls, the spectacular glass Orangery and Terrace invite you to dine and dance beneath the stars. With a built-in bar, dancefloor, cloakroom and luxury washrooms, it hosts up to 120 for a banquet, 90 for dinner-dance seating, or 72 cabaret-style. For gatherings of up to 50, the mansion’s elegant drawing rooms and terraces provide an enchanting, intimate experience.

Food, glorious food
Your celebration at Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve begins with a complimentary menu tasting and includes a one-night stay in the mansion’s romantic bridal suite on your wedding night. To elevate your day even further, a private guided safari can be arranged for you and your guests, offering unforgettable, storybook-worthy moments for your wedding album. Journey through the park’s sweeping Kentish savannah and encounter extraordinary residents such as giraffes, rhinos, wildebeests and zebras framed against a breathtaking coastal skyline.
